'To dear Claire, Thank you for all your help, so much better than our previous training class. My pet John had to help me with this card. Hope to see you again soon. Pasco'
Mr and Mrs Hammond, came to clever clogs training after struggling with the large classes which in turn made it hard for Pasco to keep his attention on his owner. Pasco has since passed his Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze Test and is working up to his Silver. Mr and Mrs Hammond have put a lot of hard work in with Pasco and in turn it has paid off!! Well done keep up the good work!!
'To Claire, Thank you for helping me to be a good puppy, Love Max'
This was a lovely hand made card which has pride of place in my office Fiona Haigh-Gannon and her daughter made this which has pictures of all the dogs in the class on. Max was a very receptive to training and it was all down to the hard work his owner put in. Well done.
' Dear Claire, I just wanted to say thank you for your help, advice over Tess. As you gathered we haven't found her and easy pup but we feel she is now getting on well. (still some way to go). Unfortunately I cant continue with you next classes but we may call on your services in the future! Thank you again. All the best Barbara'
Barbara and Tess came to the puppy classes and she was struggling as Tess could be very determined little dog with bags of energy, I went out to give Barbara a one to one session to help with a few other problems she was having around the house, mainly due to her being over excited. She was a very good trainer and Tess learnt very quickly (not just the things you wanted to teach her though). By the end of the course she was calming down nicely. Well done Barbara I hope all is still going well!!!
Behaviour consultations
'We thought our Border collie pup would have to go - chasing sheep and house training in reverse. Just one session with Claire changed all that. She's now house trained, does not chase sheep and is a pleasure to have around.' Georgina Hulme and Poppy.
I had worked with Poppy and Georgina since Poppy was a puppy (10 weeks), when she first cam to the puppy parties at broom cottage vets. She then joined onto the puppy classes and moved up to the Bronze course. Poppy had, had a couple of bad events which caused her to be a little wary of strangers and other dogs. Her stress levels were very high which was making the problems she had a lot worse. So betweens us as the stress of the classes were just making matters worse we decided it wasn't appropriate for her to stay in such a situation that was making her worse. We worked together on calming her down, reducing her stress levels which made her more confident and calm around people and dogs and stopped the regressing house training. Georgina was starting to get worried that Poppy may have to be re-homed as they live next to a farmers field and she had become fixated on the sheep. After discussing the issues on a behaviour consultation we put a plan of action into practise to help improve her behaviour. Georgina has reported she is doing very well and no longer bothers with the sheep next door she is calm around the home and will actually relax rather than being on the go all the time. Great work Georgina!!!
'Hi Claire, Got your message. Amy is doing really well and has improved leaps and bounds this weekend alone. I think we can leave it for a while and she how we get on as her progress is great at the moment. We will keep it going for a few weeks and get back to you. Best Regards, Sandra'
This was a reply to a phone call I made to book a follow up to a behaviour consultation. Sandra had just re-homed a border collie that the breeder no longer wanted, however she was starting to show some behaviour that worried her. Amy was very nervous and unsure about strange situations we worked on increasing her confidence and calming down her behaviour. We were going to arrange another session for 2 weeks later to tidy up any loose ends but as you can see from the email response Amy is doing very well and does not currently need the follow up session. Well done Sandra....... Since this reply Sandra and Adam have attended a beginners course and are about to start the advanced training classes, she is calming down and relaxing around new dogs and situations. Keep up the great work!!
